Rose McGowan has never been one to stay quiet when the topic is important. Now, in the wake of the many, many allegations laid by women against one of Hollywood’s biggest executives Harvey Weinstein, McGowan has taken to social media to call out the men who she says enabled his behaviour. Although she made no official commend, McGowan was included in last week’s New York Times piece as one of the women with whom Weinstein reached a ‘settlement’ after an ‘incident’ in 1990s.

After the reports to The Wrap from journalist Sharon Waxman that Matt Damon was involved in spiking a 2004 New York Times article she was writing about Weinstein’s behaviour, McGowan tweeted him:

She also took down Kevin Smith who has tweeted his shame at having received funding from Weinstein:

And included Casey Affleck as, presumably, another example of a Hollywood man who has had his sexual assault allegations largely ignored by the industry.

As she explained to The Hollywood Reporter, McGowan outlined how disturbingly ingrained this kind of male behaviour is.

“The men of Hollywood need to know they own no woman. The days of Entourage-like behaviour and thinking is as dated as your largely bro nature. I’m calling on the board to resign effective immediately, and for other men to stop other men when they are being disgusting.”
