Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba. Image Source.

I have a confession to make — Dashboard Confessional was the first concert I ever went to and I just cried a little bit listening to Hands Down. Apparently the teenage emo inside me still has a lot of feelings that she has to work through. If your heart also pangs at the sound of Chris Carrabba’s voice, then you’ll probably want to read a ~brand new~ (see what I did there?) emo history book just as much as I do.

Anthology of Emo: Volume One will deep dive into the history of emo with interviews from members of The Promise Ring, Dashboard Confessional (Chris Carrabba), Rainer Maria, American Football (Mike Kinsella), Mineral, the Get Up Kids, and more. The important book is edited by Tom Mullen, an Altantic Records executive and the founder of the excellent podcast Washed Up Emo. Mullen has chatted to everyone from Taking Back Sunday to Jimmy Eat World over the years so you know he knows what’s good.
